McKinley Day: Pet Appreciation Day & More!

Date

Jan 28, 2023
Expired!

Time

10:00 am - 3:00 pm

January 28, 2023 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

We would like to invite you to join us for the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum’s 2nd annual Pet Appreciation event. During the lifespan of our country, several presidential pets have made it into the history books. Pets such as President Taft’s pet cow and President Coolidge’s pet raccoon were definitely unique. No matter what kind of pet a president might have had, these animals have been vital connections for members of the public to relate to the occupants of the White House.

In that spirit, we are honoring President McKinley’s birthday by hosting special activities throughout the day related to pets:

  • Pet themed story-time and crafts

  • Pet Plush Adoptions

  • Presidential Pets presentation by our Education Director Ally Carlson

  • Local crafters who specialize in animal wares

This event will coincide with President McKinley’s other birthday celebrations, which includes a special wreath laying ceremony, science and planetarium shows, and more! Stay tuned for more information on the schedule of events.

Additionally, we will be encouraging our visitors to donate pet supplies for our partnering organizations during the month of January. Donate between Jan. 3rd and Jan. 27th and receive $1.00 off admission price (per household). Donate items on the day of the event and receive $2.00 off admission price (per household).
