Youth Outreach Programs

Bring the McKinley Museum into Your Classroom

The McKinley Presidential Library & Museum has a variety of outreach programs available for your classroom. There are a mix of history and science based programs, available virtually or in-person, that you can choose from. Please use the booking buttons for each program to reach out to our staff directly via email to setup your program.

History To Go

PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE VIRTUALLY OR IN PERSON.
Stark County Then & Now
3rd Grade

Students will learn about the history of Stark County, including the development of major industries and immigration to the area.  Using maps and historic photographs, students will discover the rich history of Stark County. 

Beautiful Ohio
4th Grade

Students will learn about the Ohio symbols and the different Presidents associated with Ohio  They will use map skills to locate the birth and death places of each Ohio President. 

Mom What's That?
2nd-6th Grade

The Mom, What’s That? program is designed to show elementary aged children how everyday technology has advanced over the last forty years. This fun program utilizes artifacts from the 1970s-1990s that are obsolete today to demonstrated how common household activities were done in the recent past. 

Building the McKinley Monument
All Ages

This program highlights the life and tragic death of President McKinley and the subsequent construction  of the McKinley Monument. Students will follow the construction process through slides and video from the Museum’s archives. 

Science To Go

THE FOLLOWING PROGRAM IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN PERSON.
Changes
Grades 4-6

Students will view and participate in experiments involving chemical or physical changes. They will work together to perform a variety of controlled experiments. Students will learn characteristics of chemical and physical changes. The program is limited to schools in Stark County.

Robots Among Us
2nd-5th Grade

Students will  take a look at the beginning of robotics in science, literature, and history. Robots have been around since 300B.C. and have helped humans in many work related fields. This program explores many different important uses of robots. It is a slide formatted program. 

Rocks & Fossils
4th-6th Grade

Learn what fossils are, how they form, and what we learn from them.  Also learn about the rock cycle.
