Crocheted Slippers made by Ida McKinley

A pair of crocheted slippers made by First Lady Ida McKinley. Crocheting was a hobby for Mrs. McKinley and it is estimated that she crocheted 4,000 slippers for many people including family, friends, orphans and Civil War veterans. Union veterans received blue slippers and Confederate veterans received gray slippers.
