In September 2020, we hosted our first Virtual Escape Room as our Fall Fundraiser. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we actually raised more money than our in-person Fall Fundraiser in 2019! With the pandemic not quite behind us, we have decided to create a brand new Virtual Escape Room for this year called “Lost in the Collection.”
As I’m sure you are aware, our budget has taken quite a hit during the pandemic. Our projected budget shortfall at the beginning of 2021 was $187,000. We have been applying for grants and emergency funding in order to close that gap, but we still need your help. Our Fall Fundraiser is more important than ever. I hope we can count on you to be part of our recovery.
We have an amazing interactive event planned! This is the plot of this new Virtual Escape Room:
Two teenagers visit the museum as a part of a tour. The group begins in the lobby before traveling upstairs to the Stark County Story, where the teens decide to leave the tour. Due to breaking the rules, they are transported back in time, where they have to find clues and solve puzzles in order to return to the present over the course of three time periods: a vintage dollhouse, the newly-built McKinley Monument in 1907, and the Jurassic era. You will have to help them solve the puzzles to escape!
Virtual teams are 6-8 participants. If you do not have a full team, then you will be paired up with another small group just like in-person escape rooms.
All Sponsors. Our Sponsors will be included in all marketing materials for the event, including press releases, promotional materials, and during the virtual event. You will also receive recognition in the Museum’s e-newsletter and Facebook page.
Puzzle Sponsors. Our Puzzle Sponsors will receive all of the above benefits PLUS the opportunity to schedule a PRIVATE EXPERIENCE for your friends and family on the date of your choice (10/1-1/31).
Escape Artist Sponsors. Our Escape Artist Sponsors will receive all of the above benefits PLUS an ad on our social media channels, website, and e-newsletter.
Signature Sponsor. Our Signature Sponsor will receive all of the above benefits PLUS a full page on our digital sign in the Museum Lobby that will begin running at the time of commitment through the day of the event. For our Signature Sponsor, we will “brand” the event as “Virtual Escape Room Presented by YOU” in all marketing materials.
We are scheduling the event for three nights: September 23, 24, or 25 at 6:00 PM. Dates will be available on a first come, first served basis. Our Digital Learning Specialist, Brandy Smith will confirm your date between September 10-15. A link will be emailed to all participants two days prior to your scheduled event date. If you choose to give your tickets to friends or family, it is very important that you share their contact information with us so we can make sure they receive the link to the game. Team members DO NOT have to be in the same physical location to participate. You can also schedule a private experience for your team on a date of your choice between October 1, 2021 and January 31, 2022. This is available for a donation of $200 or more. The game works best on a laptop or desktop computer (not an iPad or tablet) with an internet connection that can handle a virtual experience like an escape room, which includes videos and interactive tools that the participants control.
