Soup at Six: The Life of Death: The History and Culture of Death and Dying

Join us for our next Soup at Six on Thursday October 19 at 6:00 PM. Curator Kim Kenney will explore how the meaning of death and death rituals have changed over time. Cultures around the world handle death very differently, from the sentimental to the macabre. This new program will trace the history of the sky burial, cremation, green burial, embalming, superstitions regarding the deceased, and more. We will also look at the professionalization of the funeral industry and how it has shaped our view of what it means to die.
