On Saturday May 11 all moms will receive free admission at the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum to celebrate Mother’s Day Weekend.
May 11 is also the Museum’s next Science Saturday: “Prehistoric Creatures” from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Visitors will learn about all the creatures that lived in Ohio from the Devonian period to the Ice Age. There will be fun crafts and activities for everyone to enjoy. Visitors will be able to see some of the Museum’s highlighted collection of fossil remains not on display, such as the Ohio state fossil the Trilobite. This workshop is included with paid admission to the museum.
Shows in the the Hoover-Price Planetarium are also included with admission. “Cosmic Kids” will be presented at 11:00 AM & 11:30 AM. This 15-minute show includes the constellations, planets, light show, and music. It is designed for ages 3 and up. “Universe at Large” will be presented at 1:00 PM & 2:00 PM. This 30-minute show includes monthly highlights, latest news, and a night sky tour. This show is designed for ages 7 and up. Tickets required for the planetarium shows and are available on a first come, first served basis at the Admissions Window.
The new Keller Gallery exhibition “A Constellation of Objects,” featuring artifacts in the Museum’s permanent collection that relate to the Night Sky, will be on view. More than 200 artifacts are on display, including a Snoopy astronaut doll from 1969, a drinking gourd (The Big Dipper), a copper belt (Orion), a stuffed teddy bear (Ursa Major), and much more.
